Vocational music training is a systematic process which is intended to be applied to make some changes over an individual’s musical attitude, his/her ideas, his/her recognition of life and experiencing it. This process is a period of musical hearing training, instrument training, voice training and theory of music training.

One of the main tasks of a music teacher is to form a general musical taste of a society, to develop and change it. It is quite significant that a music teacher who is in a state of a vocational music training instructor should be able to dominate his/her instrument as well as other branches of music.

Instrument training - highly hard and needing to be followed – is a stiff training that can be conducted in a good harmony and collaboration by both a teacher and a student. For being able to teach the instrument and to sound nice and harmonious voice out of it, presenting a view towards the basic problems of instrument training that is applied over the students in faculties of education formes the main objective of this research. In this research –a descriptive one–literature has been scanned and books, articles, symposium notifications that are related to research subject have been analyzed.

In the institutions that provide vocational music training, as a result of some problems-such as the inadequacy of individual course hours and the situation in which a lecture is studied with more than one student in an course hour, and incapability of allocating necessary time for students-instrument competence level decreases and domination of an instrument cannot be formed sufficiently.

Average age of the students who begin to play any instrument in the instutitons where general music training is provided until the period in which GSLs begin to give education is 20, the lack of teaching staff, the problems faced during the admissiof of students, teaching programme cannot be applied well enough; in consequence of all these matters, qualification problems in instrument training demonstrate themselves in different dimensions. In this sense, instrument training problems that are faced in vocational music training increasingly continue.
